About Lisa

I am a writer, teacher, editor, musician and flower farmer, in various degrees, depending on the season. In the summer, the flowers consume me in all their color and fragrance, but they gradually release me as fall closes in, and my mind turns to writing again. I was born on the western side of Maryland but have lived on the more rural eastern shore for over ten years with my husband, where we own and operate a specialty and native cut flower farm in Galena. I have found it to be a marriage of synchronicity: the flowers, like my writing, needing time to grow, time to rest, time to cultivate and then let go wild. It is a constant balancing act of nature and imagination; reality and fiction. And where the line is drawn I know not where.

I received my Masters of English (creative writing) from Northern Arizona University and my Masters of Fine Arts (fiction) from Vermont College. I have worked as an editor for the government, private clients, and various publishing houses, and was a contributing editor for the literary journal, Hunger Mountain. I currently serve as the fiction editor for Little Patuxent Review. My poetry and short stories have been published in many literary journals, including The Main Street Rag, Dickinson Review, Litro Magazine, Newfound, Bluestem Magazine, The Minnesota Review, Kentucky Review and National Forum. I currently teach English at Chesapeake College. I have also taught creative writing and composition courses at Northern Arizona University, Union Institute, and Anne Arundel Community College. My resume and references are available upon request.

I very much enjoy helping others find their own voice. We are all connected in this way—we all have an inner desire to express the wonder that is Life. If writing is your chosen form of expression, then I can help you transform your work into Art. I look forward to hearing from you. Namaste ~ Lisa
